This Inspection and Testing 2391 qualification is aimed at electrical personnel who either carry out or supervise the testing and inspection of electrical installations. Our unique 2391 home study course with worked through typical exam paper questions is designed to meet the needs of and provide a valuable learning aid to those required to gain a qualification such as the City & Guilds 2391.
Although there are no pre entry requirements to sit the 2391 exam, prospective candidates would benefit from first completing the 17th Edition IET Wiring Regulations Course. This will provide a good grounding in the content and format of the IET Wiring Regulations.
Our convenient Home Study 2391 Course is designed to prepare candidates for the written and practical examinations. Although there is no practical element to this course as it is in home study format, the documentation is designed to provide the student with the theoretical knowledge necessary to perform inspection and testing procedures to the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.
More on the 2391 Exam:
The knowledge requirements for the each certificate of the City and Guilds 2391 inspection and testing are assessed by a written question paper.
The examination paper number is 2391-301 and the examination paper title is Technical knowledge of the inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations.
The 2391-301 examination consists of two sections, containing 26 questions, which have to be completed within two and a half hours.
Section A of the 2391 examination paper consists of 20 short answer questions worth 60 marks and usually takes around 1 hour. Section B consists of 6 structured questions worth 90 marks and usually takes around one and a half hours.
There is also a practical assessment element to the 2391 City and Guilds exam which consists of four assessments.
It’s a difficult exam with the pass rate averaging around 50 - 60%

The objective of our Inspection and Testing home study course and revision aid is to give trainees the confidence to sit a relevant qualification, for example the City & Guilds 2391 Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing, Design and Certification of Electrical Installations. The course also illustrates how to determine appropriate test pass levels and interpret results correctly and how to correctly complete the relevant documentation (the IET periodic inspection report and schedule of inspections and schedule of test results).
The course can be studied at the student’s own pace and convenience and when confident to do so, the student can arrange to sit a relevant examination at any approved examination centre that accepts external candidates.
Successful completion of the exams can lead to the award of the City and Guilds 2391 Part 1 - Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations - an indispensable qualification for practicing electricians.
