Now available from our bookstore, the latest 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.
There is a new 17th Edition course which covers Amendment 1 and which will prepare
the candidate for the new 2382-12 qualification.
There is no ‘update’ exam for this publication of the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations
and candidates who wish to obtain the latest relevant qualification will need to
sit and pass the 2382-12 exam which is a full 2 hour, 60 question exam testing the
knowledge of the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, including Amendment 1.
To ensure thorough knowledge of the regulations, you may wish to study at home with
a 17th edition course which will help clarify the salient points of the publication
and put some sort of order to the structure of the Wiring Regulations, which will
help you answer the 17th edition exam questions when you sit the exam.
For those who already own the previous red cover version of the IET Wiring Regulations,
spending more money on the Amendment 1 publication may seem like an unnecessary expense.
However, Amendment 1 introduces new special locations, new definitions, a new IEC
decimal point numbering system as well as many other important alterations and additions.
It is vital therefore, to obtain a copy of the latest 17th Edition Wiring Regulations
which incorporates the first amendment, if you wish to pass the latest qualification.
The publication can be purchased direct from the IET, but you may find cheaper copies
available from online stores and, as it’s an expensive publication, we’ve provided
a link to our bookstore above where you should find a new copy at a price well below
the recommended retail price.
The 17th Edition IET Wiring Regulations publication is not designed to be studied
and memorised, but as a reference work for those involved in electrical installation.
From an examination point of view however, it is well worth becoming familiar with
the structure and layout of the regulations as this will help you locate the relevant
answers when sitting the 17th edition exam.
Knowledge of the Wiring Regulations can greatly help to illustrate ‘competency’,
which is so important nowadays.
With so many changes and updates to the regulations in the past, there is no indication
that this trend will not continue and if anything, more frequent changes and amendments
are likely to occur in the future. For this reason it is vital to keep up to date
on the latest news concerning the 17th Edition wiring regulations.
